Kenny Tran and the Jotech/Scion tC are squarely on the Battle Of The Imports trail and with the demise of the NOPI, sanctioned by NHRA series the team is looking forward to some west coast dates. The first of these dates was August 2-3 at Sacramento Raceway.
The Jotech/Scion tC qualified second with a 8.55 at 168 mph and Kenny seemed to again be on a collision course with Brian Jimenez. Kenny hooked and cooked in the semifinals and advanced to the final round against Jimenez, his archrival since moving to the Battle series.
In the money race Kenny lost in a holeshot, posting an 8.38 at 166 against Jimenez's 8.40 at 165. Kenny’s reaction time of .131 seconds did not fare well against Jimenez's .087.
“It was a decent day for us given all the obstacles we ran into at this event,” says Kenny. “We lost traction at half-track, lit up the tires and lost valuable time and it didn't help that my reaction time was off in the finals. It was very unusual for our car to spin that hard and get loose at that point of the track. We're currently first in points with a 33-point lead on Brian Jimenez. That’s the bright side and that’s where I am looking.”
Kenny and his Jotech team are also looking ahead to next event in Seattle, Washington at Pacific Raceway with Battle of the Imports on August 22-23. |
